Select the Best Pavement Marking Paint for Your Project

When you are about to start a project, it is not only important to find the right parking lot stencils for the job but it is also important to consider what kind of paint would be best for your project. While Outline industries does not sell parking lot or road paint, we believe that providing our customers with an informational guide to the different kinds of paint available is extremely helpful. There are four different basic types of road and parking lot paint. They are water based, oil based, thermoplastic, and retro-reflective.

Water based paints are great for those who want a paint that is easily removed. If the paint is spilled you can easily wash it away with water however, using water based paint can also prove to be a challenge. The pavement must be completely dry before applying the paint and while waiting for it to dry. This paint can also be easily damaged by changes in the weather. Oil based paints however, are able to survive weather changes fairly well. They are not as easily damaged and a solvent is required to remove it. Another more durable paint option is the thermoplastic paint. Although this paint is highly durable, high durability does come at a price. There are two ways to apply thermoplastic paint, hot and cold. Both methods require the use of special equipment that can be costly.

If you are not familiar with the types of road and parking lot paints that are available, we have provided a complete informational guide. We want to help ensure our customers have all of the information they need to complete their projects to the best of their abilities.
